In 1974, a small group of concerned citizens came together to help their impoverished neighbors with basic essentials such as food, clothing, and shelter. These volunteers worked tirelessly to alleviate the cycles of poverty that devastated generation after generation in their community. From this humble beginning, the Shepherd Center has grown into a cornerstone for families and individuals who find themselves in crisis. Our Outreach programs reach more than 3,000 clients each year, and include a food pantry, community kitchen, family services, mentoring, job training, and referrals to community partners.

As community partners, together we have made a tremendous impact with families and children challenged with food insecurity. It’s not just about the numbers. It’s about the impact on the lives of the people we serve – and the lives of those who serve alongside of us.
